Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode Credit Card PIN

Enabling Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode in your internet payment system is one way to reduce the incidence of fraudulent Internet Payments.
Verified by Visa (also known as VBV) and MasterCard SecureCode (also known as 3D Secure) is a system run by the Visa and MasterCard card schemes. The system works by requiring the card holder to register the card and a PIN with the Visa or MasterCard card scheme. The card holder does this simply by logging onto the respective card scheme web site and filling out a brief form. Once the card holder has registered their card and their PIN, each time they go onto a web site to make a payment, and where that merchant web site is also VBV and 3D Secure enabled, a separate pop up will appear asking the card holder to enter their PIN. This PIN is sent directly to the card scheme who then confirms or denies the validity of the PIN to each of the card holder and merchant. Naturally, the payment is declined if the card scheme denies the validity of the PIN.
The effectiveness of the system is derived from no merchant at any stage ever touching or being able to touch or store any card holder PIN. The PIN is therefore only ever known by the card holder and the card scheme.
The SecurePay VBV and 3D Secure service is available on the Direct One Hosted Payments Page Integration and the eSec SSL Browser Redirect Integration.

Card Verification Value
Enabling Card Verification Value (CVV) in your payment system is one way to reduce the incidence of fraudulent payments. The CVV number is the last 3 digits printed on the signature strip on the back of the credit card. Requiring the card holder to enter this number when making a payment increases the probability that the person making the payment has physical possession of the card at the time of making the payment.
The SecurePay CVV service is available on all SecurePay, eSec and Direct One integrations.
